Prof. Kim is an infectious disease physician as well as a medical director of antimicrobial stewardship program in the university-affiliated hospital. In addition, he is now a chief quality officer after being in charge of infection control office for about 13 years.

He has been actively involved in the advisory board for not only healthcare-associated infection but also antimicrobial resistance over a couple of decades in Korea. Now he participate in SHEA as a member of the external affairs committee since 2020 after being selected as an international ambassador in 2012. His research interests include molecular epidemiology and control of antibiotic-resistant pathogens, and also diagnosis and management of complicated S. aureus bacteremia.
